As you might have noticed in the last three months the church flowers have not been at their best in our church in Kelvedon. This ministry was beautifully covered by Miriam McInally but when she wasn’t able to do it anymore due to ill health, Angie Hart stepped in and managed to maintain the liturgical calendar to a good standard. However, since the Summer, this has become a challenge for her as her family and personal circumstances have changed affecting her already crowded diary. We also had to face the fact that the cost of flowers has gone up while the quality has come down. It is no longer cost-efficient to use cut flowers as they don’t last long enough. So, we decided to experiment with silk flowers for a while and then with potted plants. We also hope this will make it less frightening or more appealing for people to volunteer in this beautiful ministry. However, when we collected data from parishioners willing to help on occasional basis, Kelvedon was the only church with no volunteers at all for this ministry! We are now making a fresh appeal. Again, we don’t expect one person to take on the whole responsibility but rather to have a small team of 3 or 4 people collaborating according to availability during the year. Please note we will be looking to start this new group of volunteers in January 2026. Thank you!
