Tiptree Youth Project Outreach was created nearly fifteen years ago to provide support for young people in Tiptree of secondary school age. This has been expressed in different ways through weekly groups and also counselling and informal support in Thurstable school. Andy Butt is employed as a full-time youth worker and there is funding for additional sessional youth work if we can identify and attract a suitable applicant. More volunteers are needed to make the weekly groups possible as there should be at least one male and one female helper at each session. However, TYPO also needs support in the form of additional trustees to continue its work. This does not necessarily involve direct involvement with the young people, but general supervision, encouragement of fund-raising and liaison with the wider community. Trustees must be sympathetic to the Christian ethos of TYPO but need not be regular worshippers at one of the churches in the area. Trustees meet about every three months for a couple of hours. If you could offer support in any of these areas, contact Fr Gordon initially.
