There has been some very exciting news from the Vatican recently with the launch of the Laudato Si’ Action Platform, which is being described as a “seven year journey towards internal ecology”. The new platform was launched by Cardinal Peter Turkson, who is very well known to Catholic Concern for Animals’  members and supporters, and who wrote an important message for the CCA Fish and Marine Welfare Conference which was held earlier this year.

The new Laudato Si' initiative looks very good indeed and CCA will be playing its part to the full, as we have engaged enthusiastically with the wonderful Environment Encyclical ever since it was written by Pope Francis and published in 2015. 

Pope Francis has also been talking about the need to support sustainable local farming to provide incomes for many of the poorest people in the world, and also to help protect biodiversity.
