As part of our response to this year's Season of Creation, we would like to invite you to a free showing of The People’s Emergency Briefing, to be held in- Fr Saurin (church) hall at St Teresa of Lisieux Catholic Church on 18 September 2026 at 7pm. Refreshments will be provided. The briefing is a powerful 50-minute film examining the realities of climate and nature breakdown in the UK, and the action needed in response. The film is based on a landmark National Emergency Briefing held at Westminster in November 2025, bringing together leading UK scientists and experts to explain the evidence and its implications for everyday life. It explores risks including extreme weather, food security, public health, national security and the cost of living. This summer we have seen drought, failed crops and forest fires, indicating what the crisis might mean for the future of our communities. The initiative is backed by a broad ecumenical coalition in the UK, including the Roman Catholic Church in England and Wales, CAFOD, the Laudato Si' Movement, and our own diocese, which is urging all parishes to host such community screenings. Everyone is welcome to attend, whether you are already involved in environmental action, unsure where to begin, or simply want to understand more about the issues shaping Britain’s future.
