In today’s Gospel the risen Lord gives St Peter the chance to make amends for his threefold denial on Good Friday.  He asks three times “Do you love me?” and when Peter replies “Lord, you know I love you” he gives him a charge, “Feed my sheep!”  These words are inscribed in giant letters around the apse of the ‘altar of the chair’ in St Peter’s in Rome – we pray especially for the one God has in mind to be the successor of Pope Francis, and for the cardinals as they gather in Conclave on Wednesday.
